Rathi Group, one of the oldest business houses in the eastern region of the kingdom of Nepal.

The foundation laid by Late Rama Kishan Rathi, a man of dreams, whose forefathers came along all the way from Rajasthan in search of better living and prosperity for the family long back. Rajasthan was suffering from heavy draught and acute scarcity of necessary and essential commodities. The hard work and toil of Late Rama Kishan Rathi and his two brothers Shrikishan Rathi and Jaikishan Rathi in Bikram Samvat 1970 established him as a successful businessman as well as an important pillar of the society.

Starting his business by selling the essential commodities in the nearby markets on week days and local market, which he used to bring from the nearby Indian market. Gradually he managed to establish a rice mill Jugal Rice and Oil Mills Pvt. Ltd. This mill was the milestone which established well him in the field of rice export that later on he was called as the “Rice King” of Nepal. The rice was exported to all parts of Asia as well as the European countries. During the season he had to hire many rice mills of nearby areas to fulfil the orders.

This only did not content him. He played a vital role in building a better and harmonious society where the citizens can live with peace and brotherhood. Out of his hard earned property, he donated few acres to the society to build a community hall where the social and other functions can be celebrated. Apart from this he also took active part in all the activities of the social interest in whatsoever manner. It is an old saying that nobody returned empty handed from the doors of this great man.

The trend was further carried on by the next generation Moolchand Rathi, Jugal Kishore Rathi under the able guidance of Jaikishan Rathi. All of them maintained the pace of the business by establishing business of different sectors viz. manufacturing, import/export, merchandising etc.

Later on, development took place. The town gradually had good roads and communication systems. And the present chairman Mr. Jugal Kishore Rathi, was young and energetic at that time, he saw a vision to step ahead with the latest changing trends and technologies and established an Adhesive Industries to cater the needs of the local market. Gradually many manufacturing units of different sectors were established. On the other hand, as Nepal is totally based on the imports. The group also concentrated in importing the various essential commodities. Likewise the group established a transport company which concentrated itself for the products exported from Nepal to various parts of the world.

Off late the group has also joined hands with the foreign companies who are experts in their fields to establish a joint venture company in Nepal.

Today this group has grown to a voluminous organisation indulging in various businesses crossing the turnover of around 100 crores and is always exploring the new possibilities of business.
